Title: Starring Sally Divine Authors: Darryl Burrows Cast size: One woman actor/singer Running time: 1 hour 50mins Suitable for: Amateur and professional performance
Synopsis: Sally is the telephone receptionist in a rapidly failing second hand car yard. The Boss is never there, customers complain and Sally has her own problems. To escape from the boredom and hassles Sally daydreams. She pictures herself as a glamourous nightclub singer in the swing era of the Nineteen thirties/forties.
In between the phone calls she takes us into her fantasy world of the smoky speakeasy where she imagines herself performing before an adoring audience.
She is brought back to reality with a jolt when it becomes obvious that her boss has been fiddling the books and has probably run off with his floozie. The police are involved and it looks as if Sally will be implicated too.
Then an opportunity arises that offers the chance Sally has been waiting for. Will she achieve her dream at last? |
